Spanish courses
Spanish Summer courses
The summer courses of the University of La Rioja consist of 20 hours of morning classes per week (80 hours in total), which are complemented with cultural activities and excursions to places of interest in Logroño and the surrounding area.
The following courses are organised as part of the summer programme:
Spanish Language and Culture Course
It consists of 80 hours of classes, taught in the mornings by lecturers specialised in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
Target audience
This course is aimed at students of any nationality who wish to learn Spanish or improve their knowledge of the language.
Levels
Courses are offered various levels (from A1 to C1), with content adapted to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
On the first day of class, the welcome session takes place and the level tests are carried out.
Diploma and certificate
At the end of the course, students who have successfully completed the course will receive a diploma indicating the subjects taken, the hours of teaching and the grade obtained.
This diploma can be used as a transcript for credit at the student's home university.
Enrolment in the course also includes obtaining the SIELE certificate (International Spanish Language Evaluation Service) from the Cervantes Institute which certifies the level of proficiency in Spanish. Further information.

What does the enrolment fee include?

- Guided tours of the city, monuments and museums.
- Excursions to places in the province.
- Diploma accredited by the University of La Rioja.
- SIELE certificate.
- Help in finding accommodation. It does not include the cost of accommodation.
- Use of university services (library, computer rooms, sports facilities).
Activities
A wide range of cultural and leisure activities are offered, which are included in the enrolment fee:
- Guided tour of the historic town centre
- Visit to the Monastery of San Millán de La Cogolla, birthplace of the first words written in Spanish (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
- Visits to important museums and exhibitions in La Rioja
- Visit to a La Rioja wine cellar
- End-of-year meal

Spanish Literature and Culture Course
It consists of 80 hours of classes, taught in the mornings by university lecturers who are specialists in each subject. The academic programme is divided into two subjects of identical duration (40 hours each):
- Spanish Literature: History of Spanish literature through its classics
- Spanish culture: Spanish culture and civilisation
On the first day of the course, there is a welcome session and then the classes begin.
Target audience
This summer course is aimed at Spanish-speaking students, or those with a high level of Spanish, who wish to update and complete their training in the main historical, artistic, cultural or literary moments of recent centuries.
Diploma and certificate
At the end of the course, students who have successfully completed the course will receive a diploma indicating the subjects taken, the hours of teaching and the grade obtained.
This diploma can be used as a transcript for credit at the student's home university.
