Dr. Noemí Lana-Renault Monreal
Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral researcher at the University of La Rioja

Noemí Lana-Renault is a postdoctoral researcher (Juan de la Cierva program) at the Department of Human Sciences at La Rioja University since 2011. Her main research interest is the impact of farmland abandonment on water resources and soil loss in the Mediterranean region. Noemí received her PhD (2008) from Zaragoza University. She carried out her PhD research at the Instituto Pirenaico de Ecología (CSIC) and in 2009-2010 she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Physical Geography at Utrecht University (The Netherlands). Currently she is a guest postdoctoral researcher at the Earth Surface Hydrology group where she works with process-based, spatial-temporal modelling to investigate the changes in the stream flow response due to effect of vegetation recovery in abandoned areas. Her research at the UR focuses on the hydro-geomorphological dynamics of abandoned bench terraced areas, including the reconstruction of the original fluvial network. Most of her research is carried out in the Munilla experimental catchment, in the Cidacos valley. Noemí gives lectures (practice) in the Geography and History degree. She is a member of the Sociedad Española de Geomorfología and the International Association of Hydrological Sciences. She is also member of the editorial board of Cuadernos de Investigación Geográfica.
