CALL FOR PAPERS

Contributions are encouraged on all aspects of and approaches to Waugh's life and literary position. The organisers welcome papers on any of the following areas of discussion: Waugh as a 20th-century classic; Waugh and his contemporaries; Waugh and wine; criticism and interpretation of his fiction; Waugh and religion; film adaptations; country-house novel; campus novel; war novel; women in Waugh's fiction; Waugh and Spain; language, narrative technique and irony; journalism; travel books; biographies; influences; and any other related topics.

Paper proposals consisting of a title and a 250-word abstract should be submitted by 15th February 2003. Speakers will be allowed 20 minutes for their oral presentations and 10 minutes for discussion. Papers can be submitted both in English and in Spanish. All proposals will be reviewed by a scientific committee who will send a reasoned report on the relevance and quality of the proposal. After the symposium, selected papers will be published.
