University of La Rioja

The University of La Rioja (UR) is located on a modern campus in Logroño, where over 7,500 students are registered on courses across 26 undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes. Founded in 1992, it is the only university in this small, quiet region in Northern Spain, where the Monasteries of San Millán de la Cogolla are situated – cradle of the first words written in the Spanish language and sites included in the UNESCO’s World Heritage list.

The University of La Rioja campus is on the outskirts of Logroño, but only a short distance from the city centre. This is the capital of La Rioja, with a metropolitan area of 150,000 inhabitants and all the facilities of a modern capital but with a comfortable, manageable size.

All the buildings of the university are grouped together on a single campus. At its heart, a stone’s throw from each building, is the university library. Rated as one of the five best university libraries in Spain, it has a stock of 200,000 books and also on-line services via Internet, including DIALNET, the most important worldwide database of scientific articles in Spanish. The size of the campus, occupying an area of 200,000 m2, guarantees an atmosphere of personal treatment and cultural immersion.
